fire simulation

if ur going to simulate a moving object that is caught on fire, do you animate the domain or make the domain big?

You make the domain big, if you move it, the smoke moves with it.
To save Bake Time you may want to enable the Smoke Adaptive Domain

why margin of 2? default is set to 4.

Martin basically defines the empty space surrounding the simulation, a value of 4 is more accurate because it leaves more space to the simulation, but at the same time it makes the simulation slower.
2 is the minimum you can set, so is the fastest you can get out of a simulation, I made some tests and I didn’t see any quality difference between 2 and 4, so I suggest you to set it to 2

not recomended by the way… took me over a day to figure out why this happened, but basically the fire glitches out if the margin is low. i had to set it to 8 for it to work.
