Great entries this week, but I’m a little confused. The challenge ends at 22:30 GMT and yet it’s already closed and voting has started at 21:07 GMT.

Wonderful entries!

Congratulations to all of you!

RobertT

Great entries all! B…ump

Too bad I was out of town all weekend, I do spaceship modeling all the time. Maybe next time… good work on some of these, can see a fair amount of time went into them.

Nice entries this week. Technicaly Photox did it in a best way but I would vote for mik because I think when theme is “ship” harbor is slightly off topic when there is no ship visible :wink:

And sometimes you get extra time lol

I do this in my spare time, so if I have other matters to attend to (like paid work) then this gets pushed :wink:

It has been a while since I last participated in the weekend contest. I’m glad to see it alive and well. So many great entries!

@3dnotguru
Nice waves - although, I’m a little worried about the boats safety. I guess I should have added some of those waves myself :slight_smile:

@finalbarrage
So sorry about you computer troubles. I hope you’ll still show us the final image. The current one already looks very promising!

@Gakos
Nice and simpe - I like it. That one would make a great desktop background.

@Umii
My personal number two this time. With a little more work spent on the spindrift (is that the right word?) it would easily have been number one.

@Photox
The winner from my point of view. Even though the ship seems to be shy and hides from the camera. An original idea skillfully implemented. The realism is unmatched this week :slight_smile:

@fcharr
It took me a moment to realize what this ship reminded me of. Funny idea. Live long and prosper!

@Jesus G R
Let’s hope for some rain! At least they have each other :slight_smile:

@Jaredcfw
Funny concept. No one else thought of that. Shipping …

@Midnightcpu
The only entry which put a space ship into water (if you don’t count fcharr). Nice thought!

@mik1190
That’s a big one. “Fifth Ship”? Where are the other four? :wink:

@Ralmon Meril
I don’t know the original, but that’s a clean looking boat you have there! Someone must really have liked swabbing that deck :slight_smile: Looks great!

@Winterlaw
X-Wings - can’t argue with that! (too dangerous)

@dagto
I would have loved to see that one finished/with a bigger time frame. Btw. would you mind telling me how you did the clouds? Very interesting :slight_smile:

@Evivivi
That’s Gimp? Incredible!

@RobertT
Great delivery - as always! I thought of Dr. Who as well - but I prefer this one :slight_smile:

@Ryeath
If anyone could recreate this with freestyle, that would be awesome! Right? Competing or not - that’s a very nice entry!

@Helge

Uhmm :confused:. I don’t know about you but aren’t all boats here clean looking? :wink:

Glad everyone noticed I’d duplicated Mik’s entry into Ryeath’s :smiley:

Great entries everyone!

@rarebit: i thought: rarebit will notice that, no need to “nudge” him :smiley:

@Helge: your image was one that impressed me more for the originality of the idea, well done! fish ‘n’ chips, fish ‘n’ ships…
The other four have sunk as the constructor had troubles like holes on the mesh.

@Ralmon Meril
You are probably right :wink: I meant that more in terms of clear/accurate lines, shapes and colors. That really helps to preserve the anime character of the boat in 3D space.

@mik1190
Thanks! I guess that’s what happens if you start blending hungry :wink:
Regarding the mesh holes: This sounds like a very reasonable explanation to me!

@Helge: Yeah, at least they have each other. The guy seems pretty happy to me :wink: I liked yours, at least he won’t get hungry while fishing. That Dorito Flag looks perfect.

thanks Helge,
but the ship was not finished its something i started working on a few months ago for my movie ive been working on and just added the cannon on the top before entry might go back and do some more work on it later to make it look a little more realistic, like redoing the textures, lighting and everything else.

and congrats to the winner catch you all on the next WEC might try to bring something alot better out next time round. LOL :slight_smile:

3 way split need more votes!! Close this week :slight_smile:

Helge: Thank you!

While I usually make it a point to keep my vote confidential, I feel motivated this time around to mention, after quite a bit of consideration, I ultimately went with mik1190’s entry, which I personally felt excelled in all objective technical and subject aesthetic areas (modeling / details, materials, render quality, composition, etc.).

Nevertheless, the Weekend Challenge “wins” really belong to everyone who participates, haves fun, and improves, in any way, their use and understanding of Blender and advances their general growth as an artist.

So, once again, congratulations to all of you for some truly awesome work!

It’s an honor, a humbling experience, and an inspiration to be amid so many talented and capable individuals every week.

Have a good weekend, everyone!

RobertT

Many thanks RobertT, i feel honored :o
Looking forward to next week theme!

You’re most welcome, mik1190.

At the preview resolution, the ship almost looks completely photorealistic.

With a touch of blur, some procedural noise, a bit of desaturation, and a few curves/level tweaks, I think it can coming across quite realistically as well at full resolution, as in this very quick and rough example via GIMP:

RobertT

And… The winner of Weekend Challenge 617 with over 19% of the votes… is… Ralmon Meril!
