Why does world space work in Copy Rotation Restraint but not Local Space?

I’m following a beginner tutorial here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVHKBSknFhA For the toe the tutorial says to use local space when using the copy rotation restraint. He doesn’t show how to do the copy rotation for the hand so it follows the IK hand. The only way I can get it to follow the IK hand is by using World Space. Since I still don’t understand the difference between the two spaces, is it alright to use world space? Also, can I use the IK bone as the target for the Copy restraint of the hand?

I think you missed what he said. He is using World Space for the IK target of the foot. For the foot roll, he is using local space in some cases.

I would suggest doing some research on Local and World spaces. They mean a lot in 3d and understanding them is critical. It can be a bit mind bending to get your head around it at first, but once you get it, you get it, and it’s easy from there on out.

Here is a good tutorial on the subject. This one covers some basics. Watch them all to become a pro.

Good luck!

Lo and behold. You’re right. He does use world space for the copy rotation restraint. I really thought he used Local Space for this. I will check out that tutorial (a few more times). Thanks so much for responding.
