Strange duplicating problem

I’m working on an image with viking ships sailing through ice, but I can’t render it because of this problem.

I duplicated the viking ship I modelled, and moved it forward. I didn’t notice anything different about it then,
but whenever I clicked Render Image the second viking ship moved right back into the first ship,
and it rendered the two ships inside of each other. Did I do something wrong, or is it a bug in Blender?

I am using version 2.73.

Check for any location keyframes the object may have. When you duplicate an object it will also duplicate those keyframes for the new object.
Check for any modifiers or constraints the object may also have

Thank you, that was the problem. I forgot that I had animated the ships so there would be waves behind them. I deleted the keyframes and it works now.
