No smoke in GPU

Hi, I’m using blender 2.72 and it seems I can’t render smoke using my GPU (though it works with my CPU). I have tried to set the feature set to “experimental” with no luck. :frowning:
I’m a bit curious about this since it sais in the 2.72 release notes that volumetrics should be supperted in the GPU: http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Dev:Ref/Release_Notes/2.72/Cycles.

Have I missed some setting or am I all wrong :spin: :spin: :spin:

Thanks!

No it doesn’t, it says ‘Basic’ volume rendering on the gpu is supported. If you then follow the documentation link it will then tell you what limitations there are:

Currently we do not support:

General:

  • Camera inside a volume mesh (Support added in Blender newer than 2.72).
  • Correct ray visibility for volume meshes

On GPU:

  • Smoke/Fire rendering
  • Equi Angular / MIS Volume Sampling
  • Volume Multi Light sampling

Oh well
