Pink object?

I’ve been asked to animate a creature for a game and I was given a download for a .obj and .mtl file. When I opened the object in blender I couldn’t get the texture to show. Everytime I tried to view the texture on it just turned pink. I’ve looked up tutorials and found answers but nothing is working. I need to get this done by next weekend. Does anyone know how to fix. this problem?

Pink color means you assigned a texture image to the material (so this is fine). But the image is not present (which is not fine).

I suggest to check the texture tabs and/or the UV editor.
File/External Data/Report Missing Files and Find Missing Files can help you too.

Yep, as Monster wrote … open UV Editor and select the “pink” object, switch to edit mode and check everything is fine (UV mapping). After that relocate the texture file using the “folder” icon, switch to object mode and turn on the texture mode in 3D view … now everything has to be OK.
