close outliner window?

Well I’ve done something I have no idea how I did. I lost the properties editor window and the outliner window. I retrieved the properties editor and outliner window but now I have two outliner windows, one of which fills the entire area previously occuied by the 3d window workspace. I’ve not been able to close it. any suggestions?

I’ve tried this, doesn’t work. I’ll give it another shot later, and see if I missed something, thanks for the suggestion though, jogged my mind about the manual LOL!!
