Export 16bpp video files from Blender?

I’m trying to export lossless video files with 16bpp color depth from Blender’s VSE, so I can use them as intermediate files for further post processing. I want video files instead of image sequences as it allows me to add sound.

I’ve tried Matroska containers with a CorePNG or FFV1 codec, but no matter what I do, Blender always exports the data with an 8 bit pixel format.

Is there any way to export 16 or 32 bpp video files from Blender? Maybe at least 10 bit?

I guess that the built in ffmpeg is truncating all video container exports to 8bit.

Hmm, ok thank you. At least standalone ffmpeg is capable of exporting these videos, so there is hope for the future :slight_smile:

Oh no, do not hold breath. Built in ffmpeg moves veeeeeeery slowly.
