Does Multithreading with 8 Threads actually perform significantly better than with only 4 cores/threads?
To be more specific, is it worth to get a Xeon 1231v3 instead of an i5 4690/ i5 4690K? It’s difference for me is like 50 Euros, so kind of a huge gap for “only” 4 more threads and even worse single core performance.
Yes, more threads are better. You’ll notice about a 30% boost in speed in a lot of intensive tasks. Though check your motherboard compatibility, sometimes the xeons require more expensive motherboards too.
