I modified a technique that I first saw in BlenderArt Magazine #16 to use Blender’s particle billboards to fake a smoke simulation. That tutorial was based on Blender 2.49, before the code refactor. I recently figured out how to use a similar technique in Blender 2.73.

I’m working on a tutorial right now. I’m not very experienced at it yet, so I have to keep re-doing it. I’ll get it up here soon, hopefully within the next couple of days.
