Particles through mesh rather than sitting on top

Why does this happen?

As you can see, my buildings aren’t resting on the top of my plane as I would have hoped.

Any help is much appreciated! Thanks!

The face normals of the emitting plane are pointing downwards.
Select the faces and use W / Flip Normals

Still left with the same problem

Look at your building objects. The origin of each building is everywhere but where it should be, at its base


Position the origin at the base of the building. Select the bottom of the building, Shoft+S / Cursor to Selected, then use the Set Origin option in the toolshelf to the 3d cursor. This will position the origin correctly
