Visual Hull Reconstruction in Blender

I am interested in the idea of creating a 3d scanner for small things like insects.

I saw this article about how some researchers in australia made a high quality scanner. It mentions the use of a visual hull algorithm for reconstructing the 3d model of the insect using all of the images they took of the insect.

Does anyone know of a blender project where someone used a visual hull algorithm in blender to make a 3d model?

I’m pretty sure they use a similar algorithm in this project as well for making game characters.
