cell fracture help

Hi,
I’m just trying to fracture a simple plane. I’ve gone through the exact same steps in a new .blend file and my steps to fracture the plane work fine. However, I can’t get it to work in this blend file : https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/27060082/glass%20shatter.blend

Blender fractures it a cube instead of a plane and the rigid body dynamics/world won’t operate.

It needs to be a 3d object in order for it to fracture. You can use a solidify modifier or just do an extrude on the plane. Good luck ether way though.
As a tangential topic going from mesh to faces to triangulate goes well with fracture if you are needing to keep ngons down to a minimum But it will significantly up your poly count.
