Blender 3d on a Mac Pro (FirePro D700)

So i have looked online and on this forum for any kind of information regarding performances on a mac but i could not find anything relevant.

I am primarily a video editor but would love to get back into 3d and Blender really seems to be the best choice for me (a free software with a massive community for learning and support).

I am about to buy a mac pro with a dual firepro gpu. I am aware that blender does not support openCL and nvidia gpu’s with GL are a first choice. However the blender website specifies the incompatibility with openCL and not specific to AMD.

My question is: can Blender make full use of a firepro d700 dual gpu on a mac by using openGL?

Blender’s native renderer (cycles) uses cuda (nvidia) for render acceleration. From what i’ve read you can install luxrender which is very fast on amd/ati gpus.

Your only solution is LuxRender now is the best rendering engine you can find.

ok great! Thanks a lot guys!
