Accordion Dance - A Squash and Stretch Test

Hi blenderartists! First time posting here.

I made this animation to see how well I could implement squash and stretch in a character in Blender. I am kind of new to Blender, so I wanted to keep things simple and focus on the character’s movements. Rigging the accordion was especially challenging, but it taught me how constraints work.

Please let me know if you have any comments or suggestions.

Hahah…nice work there!
It looks fine, the thing i would work on though is the weightlessness (Spacing) of the jump and the invisible walls (spacing, again) that the character is hitting. For example, the head seems to hit something at the top of the jump, the hands also hit something on pressing the accordion, etc. Just make sure the spacing has proper eases. Looks fun, nevertheless.

Cheers!

Glad you liked it!

I never would have thought about the invisible walls issue, but I do notice it now that you mentioned it. I’ll definitely work at making characters ease in and out of movements more naturally in future animations.

Thanks for the tip!

You’re welcome. Yeah, pretty common, the mind goes blank looking at an animation repeatedly.
Cheers.
