Advice On Texturing

Using a resized cube and applying a granite texture, what is the recommended way to make the edges appear jagged, or as though it is a “slab”, i.e. edges rough and uneven?

There are probably numerous ways that experienced users could use, but for a relative newbie, is there a “most often” process that you would recommend??

If you’re using just a cube, the edges will never look jagged. You can use normal maps to fake surface details, but if you want to alter the silhouette of a shape in any way it’s going to either take actual modeling/sculpting or displacement maps.
