2.D in 3d animation.

Has anyone made any blender tools that make 3d models from a 2d sprite sheet, with z buffer tricks?

like this -> http://www.siliconera.com/2015/01/02/live2d-euclid-gives-2d-anime-a-3d-body-to-swivel-in/

but in blender?

also, what about a 2.D sprite generator ?
I have seen games like chrono triggers guts, and think this could be useful, for export
to other engines, and in the bge.

I may be wrong, but I think something similar could be achieved with a flatten deformation cage around a rigged character, as I saw that the cage in Blender still allows a rigged character to be animated as normal even if its made very flat!

Just a thought!

Make sure you have ImageMagick installed.

Thanks Fweeb, I will look into it!

I could not get this to run, but I don’t remember exactly why,

I’ll another crack at it tonight.

Edit: it works like a charm

Thanks Fweeb!
