Autodesk has recently released a new tool called Memento. It is free to download <beta currently> and allows you to scan images using a camera or digitizer and will the create a 3D mesh out of it for use in media/game assets, 3D printing or for anything else you can think of. It supports typical file output formats for meshes such as .obj and .stl, so you can immediately use those captured “high-definition three-dimensional” models in Blender.
