Here is a small article featuring some of the behind the scenes parts of my job…fxguide.com
Good to know I used a little blender (a tiny bit) in this movie too. If you see the film, Bubbles’ urinal was modeled in Blender and rendered in cycles. A few of the UV maps for the characters were laid out in blender and a cloth sim or two was done with it as well.
Although I never reasonably expect commercial products to be completely supplanted in commercial production pipelines, for reasons other than “just image-quality,” I do expect that we will continue to see Blender being used more-and-more in commercial efforts. It’s no longer wrong to say that “there’s another commerical-grade 3D Graphics application out there, now, and its name is Blender.” It’s finding its (growing …) place in the commerical world, and that will continue to be the case.
