Hi! I wanted to tell you so VSync is not working for me as expected. Of course, it improves FPS, but, take a look at this:
That’s video of my game I just recorded. Take a look at the place where I rotate the pack of ammo- the screen starts tearing. Why? I am running it in small window(as you see from quality) with VSync on.
First at all, Vsync does not magically improve the speed at all.
When sync is on, it just wait when screen just drawn to monitor. If you have requested 60 hz refresh rate and if it drops below
that, it wait for an another refresing. Now it may drops to 30 hz.
V-sync adaptive mode means:
Keep syncing if fps stays at requested 60 hz. But if it drops below that, it swaps new image just when it is ready.
I don’t think Vsync work windowed mode at all. You may have even different refresh rate, example 75 hz for monitors.
You should check your video card settings. Nvida cards have a nice manager which lets you set things like vsinc for individual programs. But i dont think it works in windowed mode.
In any case you can probably get better results by updating your video card drivers.
