"Game-Changing" DirectX12: Multi-GPU Between AMD/nVidia

I think I cried a little when I read this article…

“The source said that with binding the multiple GPUs together, DirectX 12 treats the entire graphics subsystem as a single, more powerful graphics card. Thus, users get the robustness of a running a single GPU, but with multiple graphics cards.” [article source]

 Anyone else excited?

My question is will Blender - and hopefully Octane - hop on this train quickly?

And even more interesting, proposed multi-GPU support regardless of the card-maker? That’s pretty decent news but will Blender see development to support OpenCL?

Personally, I was planning on upgrading my graphics cards this weekend, but pending nVidia’s announcement [see link below] on 3/3/15 along with these rather delightful speculations; I think I am going to chill.

Hopefully there will be some more illuminating information presented at GDC in less than a week’s time. What do you think?
