I cannot open Blender (the newest release, or 2.71) on my intel mac pro running 10.8.3 . I disabled the Prefs/Security/Gatekeeper and allow apps from anywhere to be downloaded. I re-downloaded 2.71 and re-installed the folder into my Applications folder. I open the app and after ok-ing the app to open when prompted, nothing opens. Not sure why this is happening , other than it being a 10.8.3 issue? I am reluctant to install OS 10.10.
