In VSE I have a sound strip at the root-level. Then I have some meta strips with only images and effect strips. I need to hear the sound strip while editing inside the meta strips. But as soon I edit the meta strip there is no sound. Any way to always hear the sound?

Unfortunately Blender treats each expanded Meta strip as a separate VSE timeline. So they are effectively unique.
Ok, thanks. Too bad, would have been useful to hear the audio while inside a strip.
Try markers?
