Cloth "sticking" to Collision Object

I’m making the effect of a fist hitting a metal door and denting it. However, as the fist is being pulled out, lots of vertices stick to the fist. How I prevent this from happening during the simulation? The mesh wall does this even when the fist isn’t going all the way through the wall.






On the cloth, under Cloth Collision, try ramping up the Distance.
