Proxy files and access to material nodes in Masster scene?

I read this:
http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Doc:2.6/Manual/Data_System/Linked_Libraries

Where it points out this paragraph to be able to mark it editable or not Via CTRL + Lmb
However I am not getting a result when I click or not knowing what I am to click to instruct full editable rights once brought in as a proxy file…

Here is the Library file for use in my Master, in this case a SUN

Which I want full editable access to the Nodes in my Master scene

That is referring to bone layers on armatures specifically. When you are linking stuff in Blender, you are supposed to make an armature (your control rig) that can control anything and everything you might need to modify in the final shot(s). That’s not just bone handles, but also things like material properties, shape key values, subdiv level, whatever. Then you link it as a dupligroup and make a proxy of the control rig (and only the control rig). Everything else is hands-off and read from the source file. It can be an awkward setup compared stuff like Maya’s reference edits, but most of the time you can make it work once you’re used to it.

You seem to have linked multiple objects separately, then made proxies of everything you want to edit. This isn’t really going to help and tends to just make a mess. Thanks J I will give that a read as I weed thru the uses of Blender scattered about.

TO recap on this post, NO you cannot adjust what I want to in the Master, that is done ONLY in the Library file. The CTRL + LMB click is for doing Boning.

Well that explains why I could figure how to do it…
Thanks again for the detailed answer and link to delve further
