Dornier Do 335 A-6 Night fighter

Hi all,

I have not been active since a long time… But I have tried to get back to planes, and here it is the start of the Do 335 Pfeil (in night fighter version A-6). This plane have been built (60 models, 20 really fighting before the end of war) but the night fighter version prototype never flew in operations.

current progress :

Thanks for reading and critique.

Really cool! I love WW2 planes (and I’m pretty knowledgeable), but I haven’t seen this before. I’t s really cool!

Great start. Looking forward to following the build of this in time!

Nice beginning! Keep it up!

Hi,

@ShadowCamero: thanks. You are right, it is a rare plane
@domb3026 & NID Graphics: thanks too, months of wip planned

Some details added, propellers and exhaust still need work :

IT is looking good so far! I can’t wait to see the texture on it

very rare and strange plane indeed
have not seen one like that before!

where did they get the idea / design for this?

another strange design was the Japanese double sub marine !
might try to do that one too!

keep it up nice work

happy cl

Going well . I saw this on MM and wondered if it was Blender .

Hi,

@ferrettank: thank you, glad you like it. Texturing will be a loooonnnng job

@RickyBlender: I forgot to put the link, thanks. They got the idea because of the work (pre war) on flying boats which have push/pull propellers maybe (good idea for the submarine, should have made this one with the okha :)).

@NeilF92: hey, nice to see you here ! I am a fan of your 2D artwork, honoured you follow this one. You choose a hard subject with the Buccaneer. Thanks.

Looks like a really cool plane! Keep up the great work!

Hi,

@Nid Graphics : thanks for nice words.

Today’s work, progressing on the canopies and some details (radar antennas,…) still wip. Just to have a more precise idea of the final shapes

C&C appreciated

It would have been quite a formidable fighter if it had made it into production . I seem to recall it’s performance would have been up there with the Tempest and Mustang near enough.

this model does not look like the on on wiki page
it is a 2 places like model Do 335 A-6 may be!
are there good references pic for this new model ?

happy bl

Hi,

@NeilF92: Yes, you are right it was supposed to be one of fastest propelled WWII planes (760 km/h for the single seat version). It was able to fly at 500 km/h only with the push propeller according to test pilots.

@RickyBlender: yes it is a A6 version. There are not really a lot of references, but I get photos and references from Skyraider3D, thanks to him

Not a lot of time, so a quick test below :

Hi,

some tweaks on cockpits, exhausts, etc.

I am trying to model the landing gear now because I am afraid I will not have the motivation in the last part of the modeling phase

Kind of way to get it absolutely !

Here is the current progress :

Thanks !

Looks awesome! I KNOW the final is gonna be sweet. I’m looking forward to seeing more progress.

Sweet looking plane, interesting shape and would love to see some wireframe renders.

If the end result is anything as cool and amazing as the model then we are in for a treat!!

Co pilot, mercy. Mission?

hi,

@coolfield : thanks, I appreciate you trust it
@tommy: thanks, I will try to post some wires soon.
@Smokey: it is a night night fighter (I am not sure to understand what you mean, sorry :))

Here is the current progress. Slowly progressing on details and landing gear, I will come back to canopy another day
