Global vs Local

I am new to Blender. I was testing out a character I rigged by posing it and it seems that when you move/rotate/scale, the mode is set for all motions in the manipulator. I like to move globally and rotate, scale locally. Can I set the mode for each action or do I have to keep switching between global and local? Thanks in advance.

No, unless it can be done with a script. Shortcut to the orientation menu is Alt + Space.

In mesh editing, I think the “Normal” option is the greatest invention since sliced bread. Once I discovered it, it was like a new world.
