Missing: Paste image from clipboard.

Is there a way to paste image into image editor? Currently all searches lead to having to save the image then opening it in the image editor. Is there a function to just “paste as new image” or an addon?

Not from external sources as blender is so agnostic so it isn’t aware of an outside clipboard. You can however drag a file with a pre existing path (not a screen grab etc.) into Blender. For example you can drag an image onto an object to apply it as a texture, or you can drop it into an active compositor screen to spawn an input image node.

Beg to differ. Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V interacts with Windows clipboard, at least for text data.

Moved from “General Forums > Blender and CG Discussions” to “Support > Basics & Interface”

It may help if you specify which operating system you’re using.

But text is a non modify able blob whereas images generally need a home to come from and become a relative source. Perhaps it would be nice to pack a clipboard image but blender doesn’t do that.

if you have image on a plane
then import the plane and image will be added !
you can even copy from clipboard the plane !

I saw a discus on this topic here but it seams to be nowehere continued.

Recntly someone made a python scripting addon possible to paste models, material maps, vortex and other between Modo, LightWave, XSI, 3DSMax, Maya, Sketchup, 3D, MAYA, Blender, Rhino3D, Houdini. Maybe with this base it would be possible to implement a copy and paste clipboard print screen to a node editor as a new image texture and into imae editor???

This would be fantastic, not only for texturing but allso for setting color lights in blender octane plugin.
