Diner Stool

Had the idea of creating a diner scene, so I’m starting with a stool that could be at the counter of a diner. So far it was a very good exercise for the whole workflow from modeling, unwrapping to texture and material creation as well as rendering. I used Substance Painter to create the textures.

Very nice! The model and materials are great!

There’s a simple elegance that seems to really work in this image, though the cushion doesn’t seem to have any sort of spec. map nor very much in the way of bump (considering that the colormap gives the impression of a pretty scuffed surface).

Thanks! Well, the cushion is supposed to be made of worn out fake leather (aka plastic) so there’s not much surface bump going on aside from the scratches and small tears. The speckles you see are supposed to be bleaching and ageing of the plastic. To be fair though I have had a little bit of a struggle to get the maps created by Substance Painter to work in Cycles, need to do more research on how it maps best.
