Hair Symmetry..

Hi all,

I am wondering if there is any way of getting symmetry on particle hair? Like say if you where doing eyebrows, and you had made one look good, and wanted to mirror it to the other side? Is there any way of doing that without using a mirror modifier? Thanks!

I only know of one way to accomplish this:

Once you’re done with the particle system for one side, duplicate it, then convert the duplicated particle system into a mesh (in the modifier tab). After that, hit CTRL+M and the direction axis (x, y, z) you want to mirror it in. This should give you a perfectly mirrored particle system, however, it doesn’t update the changes you make to the original particle system afterwards. So it requires you repeat this process after every change.

Definitely not ideal, and really cumbersome, but it does work.

I wouldn’t recommend it. Hair is never symmetrical, even on eyebrows. Look in the mirror. Deliberately making eyebrows symmetrical is just taking a swan dive into the bottom of the uncanny valley.
