Pausing a render and turning the computer off?

I started a render that is going to take at least another 11 hours (which means running it overnight). Is there anyway to pause or save a half finished render, so that it can be resumed?
Putting the computer to sleep crashes windows, so I don’t think that will help (as this is what I used to do).

Any other solutions? thanks

Just hit ESC to stop the render, exit blender, and the computer off.
To resume, change starting frame of your animation what the next frame, that had been rendered before you stopped.
Prerequisite: your render output are single frames, i.e. an image format, not to video encoding.

Assume you’re rendering with Cycles!?
Render with Progressive refine On (Performance settings); save an image, then when you wanna continue or add to quality, just render again but change the Seed number (Sampling settings); Merge/Combine all images in your preferred image manipulating app & it will be as if rendering one for the whole time…
Otherwise, keep computer running… that’s it’s only purpose & value.
