How to simulate a rigid sphere falling through a soft torus?

I would like to setup a smulation where a sphere falls (or is pulled) through the center of a soft torus,
where the sphere is slightly larger than the inner diameter of the soft torus.

Ideally, I would like to simulate how much force has to be applied to the sphere so it deforms the torus enough to pass through the torus-hole…?

Many thanks for any help!

I attach an illustration and a sample .blend.

Alternatively, I could also keep the torus rigid, and split it in 2 parts. The 2 parts should be kept together by a certain adjustable force, and move further apart as the sphere falls through the center of the torus (or being pulled through it).

How could I define/simulate that please?

Kind Regards

Take a look at softbody dynamics. These kind of simulations in blender though can often result in a few glitches, attempt with patience!
