rover type robot animation

Hi again guys after modeling a few useless items i have decided to go ahead and make a very short animation maybe thirty seconds or so.The character will be a rover like robot . I intend to have him/her move across the ground and maybe take a soil sample . The point of the exercise is firstly to learn more about the animation process and at the same time trying to give the inanimate object a character .wish me luck guys .

Hi again guys i have quikley modeled a landscape to errm rove across and im looking for help on texturing the surface evry time i download a texture i cannot get the scale correct any help would be greatly appreciated
