Help needed! Is it possible to scale the hair emitter without the hair going crazy?

I have a hair system which I’ve already edited and I need it to scale so I can apply it to my main scene. Problem is, every time I scale it, this happens:




I’ve tried everything I can think of. Hopefully someone has a solution because I’d hate to have to style the entire thing all over again. crosses fingers

I hope there is an answer to this, because in my experience any attempt to do anything to the mesh hair is attached to makes it go crazy and force a complete restart with it.
