how to feather this ?

Hi All,
Thanks for looking in. I am trying to make a SUN for me scene. I want to have this feather inverted. It should fade out as it moves further out. Instead it is the opposite. Is it due to not having a Background scene when I Flip it and have it as a “glow”? If I flip the Layer weight Fres to Face I get a transparent not a feather. Is that due to no BackGround?
Have you better way to go about this? I really want some feather as the Sun’s energy moves away from it’s Mass



Invert your Fresnel, or make the glow in post-processing.

This is not quite as simple as inverting the fresnel.
I tried some ideas but maybe post processing would be easier.

1/ Using the facing instead of the fresnel does fade out the emission at the edges, but also wipes out the underlying surface in the middle!


2/ This can be mitigated by emitting the surface image instead of a single colour.
{I used a noise texture for the surface}


3/ Using a simple volume scattering for the corona layer

Martin thanks for the time you took to show me this way of doing it. I will try it and see how it comes out. Then I can tune it via composite. I was after some 3d (as you did it that way) due to cam pans and whips where 2D Might not look as good by doing it on composite 2d.
