[Krita] - Can't make a background transparent

I just started using Krita in hope of replacing Photoshop. I have started converting some PSD projects into it but now I face a problem.

I have a white layer with sketch lines, that I want to make it transparent and leave only the sketch lines. Normally I would apply a different blend mode like Multiply and make it work.

However this can’t happen now, I have tried it in a brand new krita file and it works (e.g. with Multiply blend mode) but for these layers that imported from PS not happening anything.

Any ideas?

Thankfully I found out how to do it. Just in case someone drops here by a search engine I would say to him/her that I found that I had to right click on the layer and go to “Properties” and then uncheck the alpha channel (i.e. setting “Inherit Alpha” to None).

That’s strange thing about why it’s needed, I will have to figure out lots of things about Krita and one is the layer modes (which is far more advanced and powerful than PhotoStore).
