vertex painting

Hi,

my problem is the following : I fail to paint a mesh with the cursor.
I put me on vertex paint mode and checked the vertex color paint (in material -> options).
My brush paint only on angles.
Maybe my mesh is not so subdivide?

Your help is welcome to have a fluid painting…

Vertex paint only works on the vertex that are there - so it interpolates from one vert to the next, grading that color change. If you want to get a lot of detail, you will be better off using Texture Paint with a blank image set to the UV unwrap of your mesh.

Hi all,

If I have well understood we can’t paint with the cursor on a mesh like in the UV mapping (option paint).
I have deducted that I have to subdivide my mesh to paint on it.
If you have bettter, your help is the welcome.

If you are in Vertex Paint mode, the only thing you can do is to give a specific color to your vertices. In very dense meshes this can look as if you are painting the mesh, but in simple meshes this will look jaggy.

If instead, you go into Texture Paint as Craig Jones sugested, then you can paint the mesh as if you were in the UV/Image Editor. You’ll need a texture to paint into, and an UVmap.
