Converting Cycles Hair to Mesh?

I am wondering how to convert the look of the cycles hair/grass in this photo. When I convert it in the modifiers panel it always turns out as stick grass. I want to use this for a game made in unity.
Anyone know?


If you want to use it in a game, you’re pretty much constrained to rendering to a texture and using it on billboarded/finned planes. Very few game engines handle particle grass, and most don’t use it either way because of the huge memory/performance hit.
