reference picture not showing up, How to fix

I have just updated to 2.71b and when i went to work on a mesh in a file the reference picture was not visible. I tried to re-add and it still did not show up. How do i fix this?

You are in perspective view. The background images only show in orthographic views. To toggle between the two use Numpad 5 or from the View menu
