Hi, is there a way to use some kind of modifier to make a broken/crumbled wall without actually having to model all the pieces? I’m not actually animating this, it’s simply for a still.
I’d suggest the cell fracture tool. It basically uses various algorithms to break up a whole model into many uneven parts (many people make shattered glass models for simulation with it). I’m not too familiar with it, but I think it has the capability to create realistic looking set of rubble pieces.

Maybe you want to change your settings and play around with “the look” of your fractured object (lets say splintered shards, or more or less shards).
Then the fracture-modifier-build would be the better option. Because its a modifiert you can change the fracture on the fly.
