Replication with Rotation?

Hi folks,

I want to build a corkscrew stair case. I have a central pillar, a rectangular prism for a step, and I want to replicate the step up the pillar.

I’m looking for a way to use the Screw modifier, or Array modifer, or SOMETHING, that will do this for me. Is there such a modifier?

make a single step, then, add an extraneous cube, then use the array modifier on the step with the object offset option checked. select the cube as your object. now by changing the rotation and position of the cube, you can make a staircase. apply the modifier if you need to change scale or you will get a snail shell effect.

Something like this?,i kept it basic.

I used the empty to control the offset (18* since the the vertices MUST line up)
