Macbook pro late 2011 Warning CPU Rendering

Hello Guys.

Just wanted to warn the other macbook pro users out there. That if you Render With macbook pro, CPU Failure may happen.

As Cycles uses CPU only no GPU support.

I have been using Blender with MBP for 2 years and, Recently the CPU (Fell off the board).

But really, the CPU solder came apart. I had to send it out to get Re-balled, You can also get it reflowed.

You will start to see vertical lines when the computer gets hot.

The computer is very clean and dust free.

I do use the computer a lot for rendering some times for 8 hours.

I imagined this would happen one day (and it finally did)

Its worth it to buy a desktop, Windows is ok, To do the rendering on. Use your great portability and excellent OS
Just render on a 500$ desktop machine. You can get a used I 7 with GPU and Lots of ram pretty cheap these days. (Save file to thumb drive, then use blender on the desktop to do heavy rendering)

Desktops have way more efficient cooling than a MBP.

Re-ball can cost 300, reflow will cost 180, Just search eBay, look at there score and feed back, Most are very experienced at these procedures. Better than a new logic board 1000$, etc.

MBP 15 Late 2011
I 7,
-4 gig ram “I know” – [You don’t need that much to model, I don’t do simulations any way ;)]

Any way Blender is a awesome product, As is Macbook pro.

Hope this helps and happy Blending

Jesse
