bevel question

I’m modeling the benches that go into a sauna. Pretty much using arrays for most of it. But as you can see from the screen grab, there are some joints where I used the knife tool and cut 45 degree angles to join the boards together.

I’ll admit beveling confuses me a little because you have the bevel modifier, and then if I hit W … there is another bevel you can select.

My question is that I do want all corners of the boards beveled, except for the edges where they are joined. What would be the best approach to take for this with the understanding that I do still want to keep the array modifier enabled in case I need to make changes?

If you want to change the bevel setting at a later date then use the bevel modifier. You can also just turn it off in the 3d viewport to give better viewport performance. You can add bevel weight to selected edges to control which edges are bevelled and to what amount
