No. It’s not shown when enabling ‘only render’ option in 3D view properties (hotkey N) -> display but that might also hide things you would want visible while modeling.
yeah, that hides my image planes (empty) as well

is it at least possible to use the perspective view, make it orthogonal by pressing 5 and then snap to the side view?
