cloth simulation to selected verts?

does anyone know if this is possible? i’m trying to create a character with a robe, i want to apply a minimal cloth sim to the sleeve ends and legging ends. but i dont want this to compromise the fact that the robe is rigged.

does anyone know if this is possible?

blend file:

Here I modded your file to make this work.

First select the inverse of your “cloth” group and create a group named “pin”
Second, move your animation down the timeline far enough to allow the cloth to “settle” into a starting position that has NO overlaps.
Third, key a pose at the new beginning of the animation WITHOUT any actual transforms or rotations.
Fourth, turn on “self collisions” for the cloth, and select the “pin” group for the “pinning” variable.
Finally animate from start

hmm, is there a way to make it so whatever frame i use as my new starting frame becomes frame 0?

edit: nvm, it seems that it isnt a necessary factor

im encountering an issue where the cloth sim isnt applied in the render. i searched around and came accross something called ‘baking’ but im not sure how to work with it
