cool render, robert. I would push the helmet out into the foreground though, because it gets kind of lost in the glare.

Thank you, Modron! I revisited this project several times after the WC and continued to tweak things.

Hopefully this “final render” is a bit better:

While I’m at it, I’m re-posting the info inspiring this piece from the submission thread:

Inspired by the Fisher King and Perceval’s failure to inquire about the Grail, which is described nicely in this entry about Perlesvaus:

“The Fisher King does not suffer from being wounded; rather, he falls into languishment because Perceval failed to ask him the Grail Question (24). Perceval’s failure to ask the Grail Question has other consequences: Arthur becomes a feeble king (3-21), Britain’s lands turn to waste (2), and its kingdoms, along with its knights, war against each other (24). Not knowing the identity of the knight who caused him his suffering, the Fisher King awaits the arrival of a worthy knight to heal him by asking the Grail Question.”

Robert, it’s amazing how much of a difference the slight adjustments can make in the way the render comes out. The final version has much greater impact than the first. Very nicely done as always.

Zachman, I am curious if those are actually 3d objects, or just 2d planes? Either way, your image brings some great memories to mind. Well done.

SonnySee, They are actual 3D Objects. If you look closely you can see the shadows from the clouds and other objects. I created it with my WIP Pixel Maker addon/script which takes an image and converts each pixel to a cube of the same color. I originally made it for 3D printing sprites easily, but I have added other functions as well. Here is another example of something I made with it: https://plus.google.com/111389707958761926694/posts/hrNhcAidV99

Everyone had great renders it was tough to vote but I did. RobertT that is a very cool image that you had done.

SonnySee: Thank you! After spending about 8 hours on the first version and not quite getting it to where I had hoped in time for the close of the WC, I was determined to keep at it, and I’m glad I did.

spanishrose: Thank you for your nice feedback!

Everyone: I admire and appreciate the effort and creativity each of you put into your entries.

These WCs are as strong as ever, and the artists are getting better and better.

I’m grateful for your participation and look forward to sharing many more WCs with you.

Robert’s image is certainly the prize of this week. Striking image, even if most of the back story is lost on me.

My vote went to Evivi – I thought he was going to run away with the vote. There is a great mood to Evivi’s piece, I feel it should set to music, a dark minor chord. Dun dun daaa.

And the winner of Weekend Challenge 591 with over 31% of the votes… is… Zachman!

Here’s to all the great participators…

Game Over

@Photox, Thank you! I think the winner is usually someone with a more literal interpretation of the theme, also there were a lot of good entries this week.

Keeping an eye on this WC…
All good entries yeh, Evivivi some realy nice work there and have to agree with photox could just picture this scene being brought to life with a bit of animation and music magic, nice work keep it up
