Render only light and not the object it falls on

Hey guys!

I would like to render a scene where some light falls on a specific object, whereas the object itself should not be visible. I only want to render the light itself. Just as if you let a lamp shine on a stone and you just don’t want to render the stone.

How do I accomplish that?

Thanks,

Choix

I only want to render the light itself. Just as if you let a lamp shine on a stone and you just don’t want to render the stone.
How are you expecting to see this ‘light’ ? As a b+w image ?
Show us what you have (blend file etc) and what you expect to see.

Also for lighting & rendering support it is usually helpful to mention the NO.1 MOST IMPORTANT THING which you have omitted.
What renderer are you using !

I am using the Cycles Renderer and I will be editing some 3D objects (and lights) into a real life scene. That’s why I only need the shadows/ lights to show on the object, which is present in the real life video scene.

Here you see the real life tree:

and here you see what will be edited inside the scene:

Now I want to put the light reflections and the shadows from the lights on the real life tree, but I don’t want to render the tree model from the blender file.

I know this works with shadows, but how does it work with light? I hope this can be done somehow
