Sluggish performance when selecting objects

As the title says, recently I’ve been having problems with selecting objects. When selecting objects (in Object Mode), the viewport freezes for anywhere between 2-6 seconds. There are currently 275,000 vertices and 55 objects in my scene. I don’t know what’s causing this, as I’ve worked with scenes with over 1m+ vertices before. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Could you post an example .blend? Also, what GPU do you use? I experience a similar issue when I use an integrated Intel HD4600 for viewport, but with more complex scenes.

Yeah, no problem. And I use a Radeon 7650m or something like that, but my laptop also has the Intel 4000 integrated chip. The annoying thing is that I’ve never before experienced something like this. I believe it could be due to switching to 2.72, but I’m not 100% sure. I’ll have to test the previous version.

EDIT: Well, I swapped back to 2.71 (and 2.69 just to be sure) and viewport performance and selecting objects works flawlessly.

Hi, do you copy your Blender settings at first start of 2.72?
If not you may use a different Window Draw Method in 2.71.
Setting is in User Prefs > System.

Cheers, mib
