the way i start "building" an object , its important ?

Hello everyone , i have a doubt that sometimes can make me unsecure about my work .

For example , when i start to build a character ( a human one for example ) can i start as i wish? like , with a plane , circle , cube or even a sphere?

Or there is any one of this ways that is better to start ??

I start with the sphere for the eye, mirrored. I Shift+D one of the edges and build out from the eyelid. I do this so that the eyes are always fit correctly. A few good YouTube videos will have you starting with some confidence! Good luck!
