Rooftop Pool Scene

Modeled, rendered, and composited in Blender. This was a challenge on Polycount forum. It was supposed to be rendered in a game engine, but I used sculpting to do the building damage, so I just did it as high res render.

Just some critique:

  1. You should’ve used a bump map, a displacement modifier, or even multiresolution. It would have made the wireframe a lot less messy and the mesh easier to work with.
  2. The whole scene is way too bright for the dark sky.
  3. The materials had little to no effort put into them (try using cycles blender if that’s not what you used)
  4. Colors are too saturated for what it would be.
  5. There is no clear focus in the image. Meaning, it is too busy with all of the things in it, too many colors, not one thing to focus on clearly, making the image too overwhelming to the viewer.
  6. If you were going for cartoony, the saturation and materials would’ve been fine (maybe a few things would need to be simplified) and you could use free style to show the fact that it’s cartoon. Also on that point, The models should be a lot more simpler if it was cartoon (as in not so many vertices in the base mesh)

Don’t get discouraged, though. Keep at it! Remember, everyone is a beginner at one point.

Nice model, but it needs textures.
